ENERGY PERFORMANCE CERTIFICATES

GEOTERME carry out audits and energy diagnostics, fundamental to start the process of continuous improvement or to define any optimization intervention that is intended to be performed.

Energy-intensive management system

Energy-intensive installations are required to comply with the requirements of portuguese law, DL 71/2008, which regulates the management of intensive energy users (SGCIE), a diploma aimed to promote energy efficiency and energy monitoring at these specific installations.

"Intensive energy installations" (CIEs) are all those which, in the immediately preceding calendar year, have consumed more than 500 tonnes of oil equivalent (500 toe / year), with the exception of legally autonomous cogeneration plants.

The facilities considered CIE are required, under the law 71/2008, to the following set of obligations:

  • Register the Installation
  • Perform Energy Audit
  • Define an Energy Consumption Redution Plan (PREn)
  • Implement and comply with the Consumption Redution Agreement (Approved Radution Plan)
  • Report the implementation of the PREn (efficiency measures) through the delivery of Implementation and Progress Reports (REP)

GEOTERME and partners have the competencies to ensure fulfillment of the obligations for legal compliance and all necessary relation with the competent entities, as ADENE (www.adene.pt), which is responsible for the operational management of the SGCIE.

Energy Audits

GEOTERME offers a complete set of energy audit services. Through the information collected on site, it is obtained support for the decision-making by the responsible of the buildings.

This support is necessary in making investments and / or interventions to reduce energy consumption and promote energy efficiency, as well as reducing CO2 emissions.

The purposes of energy audits are:

  • To make an energetic characterization of the buildings;
  • Analyze energy supply contracts and promote better contractual options;
  • Evidence of possible areas where energy savings are achievable;
  • Find and propose measures or recommendations to reduce energy consumption, in order to reduce costs and at the same time reduce CO2 emissions;

Building Certification

The Building Energy certification, results from the European Directive (EPDB) and allows users to obtain information on the energy performance of a fraction or building on an energy class scale that is easy to read and interpret, ranging from A + (higher efficiency) to G (lower efficiency).

In addition to this, it also serves, in the context of new buildings, as an instrument for verifying compliance with the thermal requirements to which these buildings are mandatory.

In existing buildings, the energy certificate provides information on energy performance improvement measures that the owner can implement (non-mandatory measures). These measures can lead to an improvement in energy performance as well as greater thermal comfort.

The Building Energy Certification System (SCE) is one of the three pillars of the new legislation (DL 118/2013) amended by Law 28/2016 on the energy performance of buildings.

This diploma aims to ensure and promote the improvement of the energy performance of buildings through the Energy Certification System (SCE), which integrates the Regulation of Energy Performance of Residential Buildings (REH) and the Energy Performance Regulation of Services & Commercial Buildings (RECS).

The Energy Certification confers to Services Buildings a factor of competitiveness.

The Energy Certification of buildings means:

  • Lower operating costs of the building;
  • Better indoor air quality;
  • Lower energy consumption;
  • Permanent monitoring of the main technical aspects of the building.

Energy Management System (Sge) - ISO 50001

The correct use of energy is a current concern of managers, at a global level, as energy costs are increasing, environmental problems and the effects of CO2 gas emissions are more worrying, and the greater the supply risks.

The implementation of Energy Management Systems, in accordance with ISO 50001: 2011, provides companies, of any size or sector, the necessary framework for the integration of "Energy Performance" into the management strategy.

The aim of this systematic approach is to continuously improve energy performance, whether in terms of efficiency (technology), consumption (processes) or use (behavior), which will result in the necessary reduction of energy costs and other associated costs.

GEOTERME, has acquired skills and an implementation methodology, based on the wide experience of implementing Management Systems according to the various normative references, which, together with its technological capacity, allows the provision of an integral service, from the diagnosis to the monitoring and certification by a third party.

The following partial services can be offered:

  • Energy Procurement;
  • Energy audits;
  • "Power Manager” service;
  • Energy monitoring (Measure to Manage);
  • Continuos legal compliance verification;
  • Support to Energy Performance Contracts (EPC or ESCO's);

The certification of the Energy Management System by an accredited external entity also allows to improve the reputation of the companies.
